Back On Track

TV Werne @ BBG Herford
106 - 88
After a dismal two weeks of basketball we are finally back on track and winning again. With a convincing win over a tough team at home, we are now 11-5 and in 4th place. It didn't come as easy as the score puts out though. Another interesting tidbit is that we've been in the press A LOT lately because of the amount of import players we have. So with all that flack from reporters and citizens our coach wanted to make amends with everyone, I guess. So the first half was dismal at best because he kept the playing field level splitting time between import players and the German guys. However, there are no restrictions on how many foreign players can be on one team or how many can be on the floor at one time in this league. Despite the rules, he went along with it anyway and if it weren't for Trevor first half, the game would've been all but lost. See, our young guys are just that, young, and every bit of inexperienced compared to the other teams in the league. So my question is, what's the difference between an American guy fresh out of college compared to a 30 year old Germany guy who has played in the top league in his home country. Nationality is the only difference, so you should be pretty intrigued by people's comments in the discussion of the media. Back to the game though!!!. After a half time discussion which basically changed the whole game plan, we went back to our normal line up, the successful one, and turned an 8 point deficit into a 3 point lead at the start of the 4th quarter. I was pretty much frustrated the whole first half, only had one shot attempt and no points in about 10 minutes of play. I came out in a blaze the second scoring 14 and we finished the game with 5 guys in double digits. Guess how many of the five were American? Anyway, we're finally on a positive run and look to continue that way until the season. Peace...
